Aging in Place
Aging in place is a growing movement that focuses on keeping seniors in their homes longer as they age. One core element of aging in place is allowing a person to maintain their quality of life. By combining home automation systems with the age in place idea, seniors can enjoy a more comfortable experience in their home, as well as increase home safety or other objectives.
All of our plans achieve our 3 major goals: Well Being Check, Home Sensor Monitoring and Security & Safety
Well Being Check® Sometimes the elder or disabled person does not want to interact with any home automation, however the family member or caregiver need to know how things are going. Our Well Being Check is simply the ability to provide a caregiver with home activity information so they know everything is fine. Unobtrusive sensors can be used to map activity (or lack thereof) and can also be used to let the caregiver know someone has left the home. This notification to the caregiver can be accomplished through text messaging and/or a Well Being Check status page that can be viewed from our domotics console, website or cell phone.
Home Sensor Monitoring The resident's home can be equipped with sensors that go above and beyond those needed for our Well Being Check.
Whether home at night or away on vacation, it is important to make your house look lived in. Interior and exterior lights can be controlled via voice or automation to help you control the lighting.
Automation can also be used to help control costs particularly associated with heating and air conditioning. Depending on activity, environmental controls can be automatically adjusted so energy isn’t wasted.
Knowing you have a sump pump failure due to a simple water detection sensor can give you some peace of mind.
Bed and Chair sensors can sense when someone is laying down or sitting and can determine for how long. These can be valuable sensors and can also be incorporated into the Well Being Check.
Security & Safety One of the by products of the type of devices used for monitoring a home is that they are the same type of devices used for a home security system. This feature is standard and integrated with the remote monitoring, so in case of a security issue, notifications can go out to friends and caregivers. 3rd party remote monitoring is also available which will notify police and fire personnel.
Detecting someone who has fallen, or hasn’t left their bed in the morning or has left through the front door at an unexpected hour, is fundamental to keeping the elderly safe. There are devices that can track a person once they have left so that locating a confused person doesn’t have to be heartbreaking. Unexpected visitors to the front door can be dealt with without needing to open the door. Audio and visual devices let you communicate with a visitor even if you are not home! (The visitor does not know this and thinks the house is occupied).
And now... All of this can be done using your Voice! Buttons are small, devices can be complicated to use so voice activation is becoming more popular. Being able to control your thermostat with your voice, find out if the garage door is open or closed, or setting a nighttime alarm are just some of the features using voice activation. The system can be used to send text messages (voice their voice) and to notify friends or neighbors if they need non-emergency help.
Customized applications Assistive Domotics has the expertise to help with all scenarios that can be encountered. If a particular device or service is needed we can help find and setup that service element.
